Why thermal insulation matters on the Costa del Sol
Andalusian summers are intense — indoor temperatures in an uninsulated apartment can reach 32–36°C, forcing air conditioning to work much harder. Proper insulation reduces cooling costs significantly and improves comfort. In winter, mild but not negligible temperatures mean heating costs can be meaningful without adequate insulation.
Options for apartments
Interior insulation (trasdosado): A drywall partition with insulation batts applied to exterior-facing walls. Reduces thermal bridging significantly. Cost: €40–80 / m² of wall surface. Reduces room size slightly (typically 8–10 cm loss per treated wall).

When to address insulation
The most cost-effective moment is during a full renovation — walls are already open, floors are being replaced. Retrofitting insulation after finishing adds both cost and disruption.
