Electrician in Marbella for villas and high-end apartments
Electrical installation and renovation in Marbella. Consumer unit upgrades, design lighting and rewiring for villas and apartments. Electrical certificates available. English communication.
Electrical work in Marbella: what properties typically need
Many villas and apartments in Marbella have electrical installations that are 20–30 years old: undersized consumer units, outdated wiring and insufficient capacity for today's appliances — induction hobs, heat pumps, EV charging points. We assess the existing installation and propose the right upgrade, from a consumer unit replacement to a full rewire. For higher-end properties we also install design lighting: recessed fixtures, LED strips, ambient circuits and basic control systems — all integrated into the renovation.
What's included
Consumer unit replacement or upgrade, new circuits, lighting points, sockets, design switches and dimmers, recessed lighting, bathroom extraction, and any electrical work forming part of a wider renovation. We issue the Spanish electrical installation certificate (boletín eléctrico) when required for holiday rental licensing, ownership transfers or power capacity upgrades. We guide you through the requirements in English.
Private urbanisations and renovation coordination
We work in the main urbanisations across Marbella: Golden Mile, Nueva Andalucía, Puerto Banús, Guadalmina and San Pedro. We're familiar with their access rules and permitted working hours. When electrical work is part of a full renovation, we coordinate cabling and conduit during the construction phase — avoiding later interventions in finished walls or ceilings.
EV charging installation in Marbella villas and apartments
Demand for electric vehicle charging points in Marbella properties has grown significantly. In villas with private garages, we install Wallbox or equivalent chargers sized to the contracted power supply. In apartment buildings, installation follows the Reglamento Electrotécnico and may require notification to the owners' community. We assess the existing electrical installation to determine whether the contracted power is sufficient or whether a capacity upgrade is needed with the supply company. We handle the administrative process when it forms part of the installation scope.
Electrical prep for smart home and heat pump systems
Properties intended for smart home systems or aerothermal heat pumps require specific electrical preparation: dedicated circuits with correct cable sizing, sufficient capacity in the consumer unit for additional breakers, and proper earthing throughout. Doing this as part of a full renovation is far more efficient than returning to install it later. We coordinate with smart home installers and aerothermal contractors to align electrical requirements before the installation design is finalised — so the property is ready for whatever system the owner chooses now or in the future.
A safe electrical installation is the foundation of any renovation on the Costa del Sol. At Costa del Sol Reformas we carry out complete electrical installations in line with Spain's Low Voltage Electrotechnical Regulation (REBT): from renewing the consumer unit and circuits to home automation, LED lighting and electric-vehicle charging points. We work with our own in-house team of licensed electricians, which lets us issue the Electrical Installation Certificate (CIE, or boletín) to the Junta de Andalucía and back every job with a five-year guarantee. Many coastal homes, built in the 1970s and 80s, still carry obsolete wiring with no earthing or residual-current device. We modernise them using leading-brand materials and full technical documentation that adds real value to the property.
The process: from survey to certificate (CIE)
We start with a genuine survey: we measure the contracted power, inspect the consumer unit, test the earthing with an earth-resistance meter and flag overloaded circuits or old aluminium wiring. From that we draft the technical report and set the electrification level: basic (5,750 W) or high (9,200 W). Then we execute the work: recessed corrugated conduit, copper cable runs, mounting the main distribution and protection board, wiring the circuits and installing an earth rod. We test insulation, continuity and RCD tripping before energising. On completion, as a licensed installation company, we issue the Electrical Installation Certificate (CIE) through the Junta de Andalucía's TECI platform, which is essential to activate the supply.
Consumer unit, circuits and protection: what we fit and why
A modern board splits protection circuit by circuit, so one fault doesn't plunge the whole house into darkness. We fit an ICP or maximum-demand meter, a main automatic switch (IGA) and 30 mA RCDs —super-immunised or auto-reset where useful— plus a dedicated MCB per circuit: C1 lighting (1.5 mm²), C2 general sockets (2.5 mm²), C3 cooker and oven (6 mm²), C4 washing machine, dishwasher and water heater, C5 bathrooms. High electrification adds lines for air conditioning, tumble dryer and automation. We use halogen-free copper cable (ES07Z1-K) and gear from Schneider Electric, ABB/Niessen, Legrand, Hager or Simon. We also add surge protection, increasingly essential given household electronics and coastal storms.
Home automation, LED lighting and EV charging
A new installation is the moment to future-proof the home. We integrate home automation using the KNX standard, Loxone or systems such as Simon 100/270 to control lighting, climate, blinds and security from your phone. For lighting we replace halogens with dimmable LED, on independent lines and with quality drivers to avoid flicker. For electric cars we install charging points (Wallbox, V2C or Circutor units) in line with ITC-BT-52: a dedicated circuit, a 30 mA Class A residual-current device, surge protection and, where the manufacturer requires it, DC residual-current detection. We size the power so charging coexists with the rest of the house without trips, and leave provision for solar panels.
Older Costa del Sol homes: when to rewire completely
Many apartments and villas in Marbella, Fuengirola or Mijas still keep their original wiring from forty or fifty years ago: no RCD, no proper earthing, aluminium conductors or sections too small for today's demand. These are the usual cause of nuisance tripping, overheating fittings and fire risk. In these cases we recommend a full renovation rather than a patch: new board, complete rewiring and correct earthing. Doing it with our own team avoids subcontractors and poor coordination with the rest of the works (masonry, plumbing), protects finishes and hands the home over with a certificate and a five-year guarantee. That documentation is decisive when selling or renting, and with the electricity company.
Renovating in Marbella: local context
Renovating in Marbella is unlike anywhere else on the Costa del Sol. High-standing apartments inside gated Golden Mile communities sit alongside 600 m² villas in Sierra Blanca or Cascada de Camoján, and owners frequently live abroad, running the works in English, German or Spanish. That means premium finishes, timelines that respect the rental season, and flawless coordination with each urbanisation's community rules. At Costa del Sol Reformas we bring 500+ completed projects, our own in-house team and a 5-year guarantee, and we approach renovations in Marbella with a clear grasp of its international, premium character — from the full refurbishment of a hillside villa to fitting out a penthouse overlooking Puerto Banús.
Where we work: Milla de Oro (Golden Mile), Sierra Blanca y Cascada de Camoján, Nagüeles, Nueva Andalucía (Valle del Golf), Puerto Banús, Casco Antiguo.
